The purpose of Center for Sensory-Motor Interaction (SMI) is to study basic and clinical aspects of human sensory-motor interaction and to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

SMI is an international research and training center with 50% of the staff coming from abroad, and the working language is English.

As of 1 Jan. 2007 co-founder of SMI Professor Thomas Sinkjær is appointed Director of the Danish National Research Foundation. He is still affiliated to SMI.
In 1997 he received the prestigious Villum Kann Rasmussens Award for outstanding international research.
